Forests and meadows cloaked in a snowy white mantle, frozen ponds and invigorating, clean air – this is winter in the Harz. The countryside around the town displays its numerous charms especially at this time of the year.
The choice is yours – skiing, tobogganing, ice-skating or walking. Yes, walking too. A number of cleared and – if necessary – gritted trails offer the perfect opportunity. You can recharge your batteries in the certain knowledge that you have chosen a particularly healthy type of holiday.
Winter in the Harz is the high season of sporting fun: cross-country skiing, downhill and snowboarding, tobogganing, ice-skating and curling. And we now guarantee that if it stops snowing for a while, but it is still frosty, then the family downhill ski slope and the toboggan run have technical backup equipment. Snow canons ensure a thick blanket of snow.
Romantic winter and torchlit walks wind their way through peaceful winter forests. As the day draws to a close and the sinking sun envelops the magical winter landscape in romantic dusky tones, guests and locals meet in the restaurants for convivial chats, look back on the events of the day and look forward to tomorrow.
Skiing & Snowboarding
We have opened our mountain for you with a cabin cable car and two double towed lifts. And if there is no snow despite the freezing cold, we are able with a temperature of at least - 3 °C and the use of snow cannons open the 1,500 meter long family piste.

Please note that the cable car is open from monday until friday 09.00 - 16.30 and an saturday and sunday from 08.00 - 16.30.
1. Children lift:
The use of the children ski lift is included in the price of the cable car. Should only the children's lift be open or you want to use only these lifts, tickets can be purchased directly at the children's ski lift. Here,a drive costs Euro 1.00. These tickets are valid only for the children's ski lift.
2. Bocksberg Cable Car and Lift I and II
Please find the price for the Bocksberg Cable Car and the long and short lift here. The fares and travel times are subject to change. The cable car may be closed in strong winds.
Cross-country skiing fun on 11 km
There are two cross-country trails available with a total length of 11km. The Hahnenkleer Mountain cross-country trail, length 6 km (intermediate level), as well as the Schulberg cross-country trail, length 5 km (intermediate level). You will also find a practise cross-country trail in the Kurpark (entrance behind the Kurhaus).

Super sledding fun 1500m long
Do you prefer to use two runners for your downhill descent? Then our 1500 meter long, lighted, toboggan run is at your disposal.
The same as the ski slopes the upper end of the toboggan run can be reached by cable-car. If you would rather climb the way on foot, then the ascent begins at the big parking lot next to the Stave Church. With a snow-making system and appropriate minus degrees we can make possible the sledding even without natural snow provided.
Ice Rink - Winter fun on the natural ice rink
The Spa lake in the Kurpark can be used for ice skating, ice hockey, curling or skidding without skates. Access to the lake is dependent on the winter weather. Curling stones and ice hockey sticks can be borrowed free of charge in the tourist information of Hahnenklee.

Many of our beautiful hiking trails are regularly dispersed and cleared. Experience a guided walk with our trained guides through the wonderful winter forest and warm up afterwards with a stop in one of our nice restaurants. Participation in the guided tour is free with Spa Card.
